As the largest comprehensive ITS laboratory in China, the laboratory
was built during the Ninth Tenth Five-Year Plan period, which was
invested RMB 32 million. It is a comprehensive experimental base
that includes communication, electronics, information integration as
an experiment and research environment, which concentrates on
intelligent coordination of transportation network and
self-organization, traffic objects information collection,
identification and process , warning and guarantee of transportation
safety and security, dedicated short range communication and
electronic toll collection.
The principle of the laboratory is to certificate, assess, develop
and construct ITS more effectively to improve the industrial
information level, working efficiency and security so as to boost
the level of management and and service of highway transportation
system. Strive to drive the development of manufacturing industry
and service industry through the transformation of scientific
research achievements and ultimately establish a comprehensive
transportation system with high-efficiency, safety,
environment-friendliness and competition.
The laboratory has 30 researchers, in which 13 with senior title, 7
with Doctor¡¯s degree, 3 have been listed in the first hierarchy of
¡°New Century Thousands of Talents Project¡± of the Ministry of
Communications (one of whom is honored the title of ¡°Outstanding
Scientific Talent¡± by the Ministry of Communications simultaneously)
and one enjoys special governmental allowances. In addition, there
are 3 visiting professors in the laboratory.
Situated in the proving ground of highway and traffic of the
Ministry of Communications, the laboratory consists of indoor
experimental system and outdoor experimental system. There are
totally 270 sets of experimental equipment, worthy of RMB 25.32
million. Covered an area of about 9285 m² (including the area of
experimental field), the laboratory offers full and effective
support to the research activities.
